forever-young Olga is celebrating her
12th birthday today. She is still the same Olga though she doesn't hear too
well anymore, but still plays with others and runs like hell (sometimes
forgets that she ain't young anymore). Happy birthday Olga !

Sunday we had Nordic Winner Show-05 in Helsinki and our
results just got better. We had two judges
- Paul Stanton, SE for juniors and others judged by Jeffrey Horswell, UK.
Breed entry was 45. Uno represented us so well by winning a very tough
ch male's class, also Tosca didn't do much worse by loosing only to Multi Ch
& W Rex Ventors Farenya, also she was best Finnish rr bitch at the show

12.12.2005 I
drove to Denmark with Niki and visited handsome Luku (Kinyemi
Fora C'Huluku) for couple of days. Niki has now been mated and if we are
lucky, we'll have new Harjaselän puppies on mid February.
Thank you so much for hospitality Nada, Anders, Linda & Claus. I
had a great time there and so did Niki !

I headed to a match show, with Ninni
(Harjaselän Niittykirvinen), held near by. She definitely needed some
training after last weekend's puppy show. This time everything went very
well and she placed as third best puppy with red ribbon. Puppy entry was ~
60. I'm so proud of her !!

Ninni got a bit shy in the ring, but got a very promising critique. Practise
will make a master...or how do they say...More practise is definitely needed.

02.10.2005 Our
fabulous weekend continued with lovely results, this time not from shows.
Frida (CH Harjaselän
Kynsiharja) took part to obedience trial in Lauttasaari.
She competed in open class and scored first price with 170
points and thus achieved obedience title TK2 (3 x first price from
open class). Now she will be seen in winner class after a training break. So
Frida is not only beautiful, she is also a very obedient ridgeback !

We drove to Riste to take part to our club's yearly lure coursing
race RRMM 2005. The day was a bit rainy but the spirit was high, so didn't
really bother too much. Tarmo (=Paavo aka Karoskloof B to
Harjaselän)
surprised us very nicely by running to second place. Entry was about 30
ridgebacks. So also Tarmo proved that he is not only beautiful - he is fast
as well......He has his own ways to train - after a real game here in
Meltola.

did well again at obedience field, this time in Kerava. She scored 162
points, got first price from open class and placed as second.

2 years since our precious Iita (CH
Ikimba Marimba, ROM) passed away. We miss you still so much !

TRIP TO SWEDEN (really
had to write few words how things can go wrong..)
On the way to Sandviken we decided to walk the dogs and droce off the
highway. After walking them we wanted to hit the road again, but our van (MB
Vito) wouldn't start ! There were no prior problems so we were very
surprised. We made a phone call to Liisa's boyfriend, Ari, and he started to
take care of this problem. After several calls and few hours, tow truck
finally arrived. He took us to local MB garage. Wasn't easy to get it fixed
as even taxi picked up some part from Stockholm. We stayed at garage till 5
am and then were ready to hit the road. Liisa drove us to Sandviken and we
decided to sleep for 2 hours at gas stations parking place. In the morning
we were ready to go to the show, but Vito wouldn't start...Liisa made some
calls about the van and I called to our friend who kindly then came to pick
us up. Ridgebacks had already started when we arrived to the show...
After the show we got a derive from Anu and Ain to the gas station and heard
that Vito has to be taken to MB garage in Gävle. Tow truck arrived and we
followed it. We spent all day there, heard that it coulnd't be fixed during
the weekend and got a rental van in the evening. At 8 pm we were ready to
hit the road to Ööland (about 650 km to the show). On the way we slept for
4 hours and had tough time in the morning to make it to the show. Trip was
longer than we thought. But we were at show place 10 minutes before our ring
started !
Liisa had to do some serious driving when driving back to Stockholm. We made
in time and returned rental van. We drove to the ferry in Anu and Ain's car
(pedestrians are not allowed to this ferry). Finally at the ferry we were
able to relax and laugh hard...
I need to thank here few people about this trip :
• Anu & Ain - THANK YOU for driving us, dogs and our luggage from the
show, to the ferry and from the ferry !
• Ari (Liisa's boyfriend) - THANK YOU for taking care of things from
Finland !
• Saija & Markus - THANK YOU for picking us up and driving to the show
!
• THANK YOU to repair persons at Uppsala and Gävle MB garages !
• Liisa - THANK YOU for nice company even the trip wasn't very easy !

Sunday we were in Riga (LV) int show. Our judge was Mr Rajko Rotnar, SLO and
breed entry was 11. Group judge was Mrs Liliane de Ridder-Onghena. Just
before our ring startred, Paavo catched a flying bee...It bit him inside
mouth and we had to run to the vet. Luckily they had vet's office at show
ground so he fast got some first aid - shot to his butt. Puppies were under
judging when we returned, but we back early enough and got it all....Here

spent our weekend in rainy Trakai (Lithuania) in Baltic Winner 2005
show. The weather was really a pity because Trakai was beautiful with
castles and old buildings, surrounded by lakes - worth of seeing ! Breed

took part to unofficial team sprint competition, called RotuRace, in Hyvinkää.
90 teams were competing for the fastest run (80 meters). In maxi class there
were 48 teams, out of those 4 ridgeback teams were present. Our team, MC
MJÖLBOLSTA, won maxi class and Uno also ran the fastest time among maxi

Pärnävaara sleddog skiing Finnish
champion competition - this time they skied in Rovaniemi team in relay and
managed to win championship in 5 km women skijoring B class. So first time
ever a ridgie has received a medal in this sport and it is GOLD !!

Katja and Wilma competed
in Pärnävaara sleddog skiing Finnish Champion competition. They competed
in class B, 5 km women skijoring and managed to place as 5th among 19
competitors. Wilma also was only bitch among first 11 dogs who placed.
Really a good job as this was only their second official competition. Here
is their great result with time :

- the mid-wife - had a busy Monday and Tosca
is a brand new mommy so our N-litter
has arrived ! She gave easily birth to 12 puppies, unfortunately one
show quality girl was still born. She sure amazed us as she was scanned with
6 puppies and now we have 11. We have 4 boys and 7 females and it seems that
we have : 4 show quality males - one liver nosed, 1 ridgeless female, 1
female with 1.crown and with long white socks in front feet and 1 female
with short ridge (maybe) - other 4 females are show quality and one of them
is liver nosed. So at the moment it seems that we have 8 show quality and 3
pets. No sinuses or other faults has been found, but still checking...

drove to Riga (Latvian Winner show) alone with 3 males (Rafu, Tarmo
& dalmatian Taavi) and Martta as Pasi stayed home with Tosca. Our judge

Ohkola winter lure coursing competition (unofficial for rrs) was one
of our breeding, Kwahu, and she kept our flag high. After first run
she was first and then on second run she finished as fifth. Her final
placement was fifth. Here is her result with points :

we were at unofficial all breed puppy show with Martta and also our breeding
Tara was there. Both girls showed themselves beautifully and with really
nice movements. Our judge was Jarmo

Kynsiharja "Frida"
made some history today at Harjaselän kennel by taking first title in
obedience in Hollola. She can now use a title TK1 which you get after
3 pcs of 1st prices in obedience in beginner's class. She achieved this with
super points and placed as third with HP among 22 competitors !!

Lotta represented us enormously well today at Lithuanian Winner show. The
judge was Mrs Kornelia Butrimova and ridgie entry was 10. Here is Lotta's

were together at Nõo show and both did well. The judge was Mrs Anita

news from Oulu - Wilma
(Harjaselän Ijumaa Ishara) and Katja took part today to a first sleddog
skiing competition with nice result. This is a FIRST time ever in Finland,
when ridgie competes in official sleddog skiing competition. Wilma just
loves this hobby and Katja used to race in skiing, when she was a bit
younger, so this makes them a super team. Huge congratulations Katja and
Petteri ! Here is Wilma's nice first start :

skier Katja Tuohino-Heikki / Harjaselän Ijumaa Ishara "Wilma"
B class is open to all breeds but dobermanns, giant schnautzers and

Valentiene's day I've some lovely news - Tosca
was scanned today and is heavily in whelp, our N-litter
will be born in mid March. I'm so reliefed that we resulted pregnancy from
that long drive to Poland.

and Anna did really a nice results today in obedience competition - cannot
believe that they had energy left after a long day at Tallinna show
yesterday. Frida got 1st price with 176,5 points in beginners class.

from Pärnu (EE) : Lotta (Ltu
JCh, LtuJW-04 Harjaselän Karpalo) got nice honor-title today, when she was
chosen as "The Best Show Dog of the year 2004". This is a
price from Dog Breeders Club of Pärnu. It's awarded among all breeds and
both sexes. Huge congratulations Lotta, Anu & Ain !! Not a bad results
at all from less than 2-year old female.

(Macumazahn Harjaselän NV) started her show career today at unofficial
puppy show in Lahti. Ridgie entry was 7 and our jugde was Mr Rune
Fagerström. Martta placed as 3rd in class of 5-7 months. She carried
herself with style, even we haven't had really time to train her. She was
the youngest of ridgies.

everyoung 11-year old Olga (Kingiza Azizi
Kito) got a very special honor today - we heard that she can keep Gaio-10
challenge trophy for a year. This is a trophy to a veteran ridgeback.
When the receiver is chosen, it's considered of veteran's age, active life
style/show success. Receiver is chosen by Riitta Viitakangas, kennel Dahari.
Our Olga is an active veteran (she was born 31.12.1993) without ridge - still he has been in many,
many shows as guest. She has also travelled with us to abroad many times -
she has been in Estonia, Lithuania, Poland, Switzerland, Hungary and Austria.
Also from the beginning she has taken part to yearly RR Open Show in Finland
(with really nice success).
Even though our dogs have succeeded well, I think this honor is very equal
to Iita's Europen Winner -99 title.
Thank you Riitta for this honor and also thank you Päivi Rantasalo for
breeding us this lovely, tough bitch !
